MOVING
away from the traditional Kuala Lumpur Criterium that has
been the final stage of the LTdL since the race began in 1996,
this time the final stage starts in Kuala Kubu Baru, and finishes
in Kuala Lumpur.
The peloton
will head towards Kuala Lumpur via Rawang and arrive at the
first intermediate sprint in Serendah after 23.3km, and two
final category 4 climb in Batu Arang at 41.3km and 50.6km.
The peloton
will then push on towards the finish line through Jalan Ipoh,
before arriving at the Sultan Abdul Samad Building 94.6km
into the stage. From then on the stage ends with six laps
around an 11km circuit that goes through Jalan Tun Perak,
Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Ampang and Jalan
Sultan Ismail, which are the most lively areas of the city.
Two more intermediate sprints are designated on the second
and fourth of these laps.
The overall
leader and king of the mountains are not expected to be affected
by the outcome of this stage, leaving the battle for the points
classification to be taken to the wire. |
