2010 (LTdL) for the first time received sponsorship of the
world No.1 sports drinks, Gatorade from Permanis Sandilands
Sdn Bhd, today.
In
a sponsorship ceremony held in the LTdL 2010 Headquarters
Aquatic Centre, National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil. Assistant

submitted the sponsorship to LTdL 2010 Chief Executive Officer,
Mr Mohamed b Salleh. Also present were Datuk Mohid b Mohamed,

and Sports, and Tuan Hj Abu Samah Abdul Wahab, President of
the Malaysian National Cycling Federation.
“We’re very proud and extremely honoured to be
the official sports drink for Le Tour de Langkawi 2010,”
said Permanis Sandilands Sdn Bhd Group marketing Manager Hemalatha
Ragavan. “As the world’s No.1 sports beverage,
Gatorade is the optimal drink for hydration and performance,
and we’re glad that we can tie-up with Asia’s
premier cycling event and one of the cycling world’s
most prestigious races.”
Hemalatha said that by offering a scientifically formulated
blend of carbohydrates and electrolytes, non-carbonated Gatorade
stimulates fluid absorption, helps the body maintain fluid
balance, provides energy to working muscles and helps enhance
athletic performance.
“Tour contestants will find that Gatorade gives them
the needed energy to go that extra mile. They’ll also
discover that unlike other sports drinks, Gatorade is non-carbonated,
so our contestants can make full use of this key benefit and
remain well hydrated, especially when they’re cycling
in hot and humid conditions.”
She added that research had shown that Gatorade helps stimulate
more rapid and complete re-hydration than water. In addition
to electrolytes (sodium and potassium), Gatorade has a 6%
carbohydrate formulation to give working muscles more energy
to fight fatigue and help speed fluid back into the body.
“Just like our other world-class Gatorade ambassadors
such as Nicol David, Kaka, Frank Lampard and Lionel Messi,
we’re sure that Tour contestants will find that no other
beverage re-hydrates replenishes and refuels better than Gatorade,”
said Hemalatha.
