KUALA
LUMPUR, Feb 17 (Bernama) - After securing 19th position in
last year's individual classification, a team from Austria,
Vorarlberg-Corratec is banking on its new rider, Sebastian
Siedler to grab the yellow jersey in this year's Le Tour de
Langkawi (LTdL) which will be held from March 1 to 7.
Team
manager Thomas Kofler said in a statement that Vorarlberg-Corratec
wanted to improve from its less encouraging performance last
year, ranked 14th overall in the team classification, while
Vorarlberg's best rider, Silvere Ackermann only made 19th
in the overall individual classification.
Siedler
from Germany had previously raced for professional teams such
as Wiesenhof, Milram and Skil Shimano, and is the team's best
bet in the pursuit for the yellow jersey, which is given to
the top rider in the overall individual classification.
Throughout
his career since 2004, Siedler had won the Ruud um die Nurberger
Altstadt, was ranked third in 6th Stage of the Deutschland
Tour, placed second in Stage 1 of Paris-Nice, won one stage
in Tour de Picardie, won Stage 6 of Post Danmark Rundt and
two stage victories in the Presidential Tour of Turkey 2009
where he ranked third overall.
Other
riders for Voralberg-Corratec are four Austrians - Rene Haselbacher
Josef Bennetseder, Christoph Sokoll, Phillip Ludesher and
another German, Rene Weissinger.
The
2010 LTdL, which is the 15th edition, will feature 20 teams
competing in seven stages, which will start in Kota Baharu,
Kelantan before crossing to Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Negeri
Sembilan and Putrajaya.
