KUALA
LUMPUR: A number of roads in the city, especially around Dataran
Merdeka, will be closed in stages starting from 6am tomorrow
and on Sunday, in conjunction with the Tour of Langkawi (LTdL)
cycling race.
City
Traffic Chief ACP Ruslin Mohd Noor said the closure of roads
was necessary to allow riders to use the roads during the
race since the last two stages would involve roads in the
city.
“Roads
that will be closed in stages tomorrow are Jalan Ampang, Jalan
Jelatek, Jalan Setiawangsa, Jalan Kilang, Jalan Genting Klang,
Jalan Taman Ibu Kota and Jalan Gombak,” he told reporters
after a briefing on traffic for the LTdL here yesterday.
On
Sunday, roads around Dataran Merdeka would be closed in stages
starting from 6am, especially Jalan Ampang, Jalan Kepong,
Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Raja (Dataran
Merdeka), Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan P.
Ramlee, Jalan Pinang and Jalan Ampang.
The
LTdL’s sixth and penultimate stage from Putrajaya-Genting
Highlands would involve a distance of 102.8km while the seventh
and final stage will be a 133.7km ride from Kuala Kubu Baru
to Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
