National team and MNCF continental team all ready to face the challenge

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 February: 12 riders representing the national and MNCF Cycling Team to face the challenge of the most prestigious race in Asia in two days time was announced today.

Executive Chairman LTdL, Tuan Haji Abu Samah Hj Abd Wahab said that the final selection is based on the performance of the riders especially during the two weeks of intensive training in Genting Highlands.

"Right after the riders returned from the training in Genting Highlands, National Sports Institution once again did medical and fitness check-up on the riders.”

"The result was good hence we were convinced to maintained the 12 riders enlisted to participate in the 14th edition of LTdL," he said.

The National Team is conducted by coach Jamaluddin Omar with Loh Sea Keong, Wan Mohd Najmie Wan Mohamad, Ahmad Fallanie Ali, Mohd Zamri Salleh, Ahmad Haidar Anuawar, Anuar Manan and reserved rider, Mohd Fadli Azmi in the line-up.

While the MNCF Cycling Team is conducted by Ng Joo Ngan with Mohd Akmal Amrun, Amir Mustafa Rosli, Suhardi Hassan, Mohd Rauf Nur Nisbah, Mohd Faris Abd Razak, Mohd Nor Riduan Zainal and reserved rider Mohd Firdaus Daud in the line-up.

"Regarding the pressure and attention on Anuar Manan this time around, I would say that after Anuar made his name in the previous LTdL, he has become an icon in this sports here in Malaysia.."

"I do hope that Anuar, who hails from Terengganu will not be too stressed out. His victory in the previous race was due to the support of teammates. With this being said, I would say that each riders who are entrusted to represent the country this time have to work very hard in the race," katanya.

Abu Samah who is also the President of Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF) said that the coach of both teams is totally satisfied with the preparation and performance of each riders in order to ensure the target to be the best Asian team will be realized.

LTdL 2009 features a seven-stage route that will commence next Monday with the challenge starting from the national administration centre in Putrajaya and will end in a criterium stage at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

The Hors category race is organized by MNCF with the support of the Malaysian Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and fully endorsed by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC).
